HOWZET! HOW U?! I'M SO HAPPY YOU JOINED MY NEW BLOG "EVERYTHING HAWAII"!
I was born in Honolulu, raised in Kailua, Oahu and moved to Vegas in 1990...Yes the 9th island! My Dad's side from East End, Molokai and Mom's settled in Waimanalo, so yea I'm a country girl. Dad went Farrington and Mom is an over-boasting Kamehameha grad (as they all are) lol
My family moved to Vegas summer of '90 so I'm a Hawaiian Vegan (in the food realm that doesn't exist...lmbo) Anyways....I was in 7th grade when we moved to the desert and yes..it was a major culture shock until..we ate at the Cal! Good ole Boyd Gaming tailored their hotels to Hawaii residence and with that....plenty locals moved up, more restaurants opened and more activities for us transplants.
Vegas has grown into Hawaii's 9th island! We have plenty local influenced restaurants: Island Style, Aloha Kitchen, Island Sushi, Ross Js, Aloha Specialties, Hawaiian Hale, 808 Sushi, L&L, Elenas and much more. It's great to see Aloha Shoyu in stores even Jade li hing mui seeds at Walgreens!!! We've come a long way.
The islands of Hawaii have such a diverse mix of cultures that incorporate the "local or Hawaiian style" that is truly our own. I want to share with you what I miss every day being away from the aina (land) and what Hawaii has to share through the world wide web......... Mahalo
